STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is looking to get back to .500 in Big 12 play, while hosting an 0-3 team in Big 12 play. While 0-3 isn’t rare in the Big 12 play, it is when it comes to Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears.
The Bears are currently 10-5 overall on the season and 0-3 to start conference play, which includes a 69-63 road loss to TCU, 70-60 home loss to Iowa State and 77-55 home loss to No. 7 Houston. So, not horrible losses by any means, just a rare start in Waco, especially considering the numbers the Bears are putting up.
On the season they’re averaging 88 points per game on 49% shooting from the floor, 35% from 3-point range and 73% from 3-point range. They’re led by redshirt sophomore guard, Cameron Carr, who’s averaging 20 points per game on 55% shooting from the floor and 40% from 3-point range.
Things do, however, start to make some sense now that it’s conference play. As a team through three games, the Bears are averaging just 59 points on 34% shooting from the floor and just 25% shooting from 3-point range. On the other end, the Bears are giving up 72 points.
In conference play, Carr’s averaging 17 points per game on 41% shooting from the floor and 35% from 3-point range.
They’re also being outrebounded 44-38 and have turned the ball over 41 times to just 28 forced on the other end.
As for the Cowboys, they’re averaging 79 points per game on nearly 45% shooting from the floor and 39% from 3-point range. They’re being outrebounded 34 to 40 and have turned the ball over 39 times to 28 forced on the other end. The Pokes are giving up 87 points in Big 12 play.
