Portal Arrival No. 51 for Morris and Co. at Oklahoma State is Morgan McPhaul
STILLWATER – The NCAA Transfer Portal closed for entries at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16. The departures from the portal will contineu, but with Eric Morris and Oklahoma State up to 51 now and the expectation of more recruits signing on Feb. 4, just how many more will the Pokes bring in. They did attract another tight end and from another origination point that is new with Morgan McPhaul coming from Virginia Military Institute (VMI). The 6-2, 265 pound heavy tight end is from one of the more histori military academies in the south and those outside the U.S. Military like West Point, Anapolis, Air Force in Colorado Springs, and the Coast Guard.
He could help out as either a tight end or a fullback. Morris’ offense fundamentally does not use an inline tight end, but uses a tight end in various positions in the formation such as wing, in an H-position, and in the backfield as a fullback. McPhaul can do those things.
McPhaul will be a grad transfer that has one year of eligibility. He is a team captain from last season that has 1,628 snaps at the Southern Conference school. He has 30 receptions for 255-yards and a pair of touchdowns. His video shows a very physical player that loves to block. That can come in handy. He has a big chest and appears strong with a listed 600 pound squat max and athletic for his size with a 38-inch vertical.
In the 2025 season he had 15 of his career catches for 179-yards and a touchdown. In the 2024 season, he had 14 receptions for 74-yards and against Western Carolina caught his first career touchdown pass. He did not play much as a freshman or redshirt freshman in 2022 and 2023.
He went to high school at Arendell-Parrott Academy in Kingston, N.C.
