Oklahoma State Snaps 15-Game Big 12 Road Losing Steak With 81-69 Win Over Utah
Oklahoma State held onto a lead late in the game to earn the Cowboys’ first true road win of the season, 81-69, against Utah.
With the win, the Cowboys moved to 15-6 overall on the season and 3-5 in Big 12 play. It also marked the first Big 12 road win for the Cowboys since February 21, 2024, snapping a 15-game conference losing streak and marked the first Big 12 road win for Steve Lutz.
The Cowboys led by seven points, 69-62, with 3:01 left in the game. A foul by Christian Coleman led to the media timeout, with Okonkwo hitting one of two free throws.
Kanye Clary hit a turnaround mid-range jumper to put OSU up by nine, 71-63, on the ensuring trip back down the court. A few plays later, Clary was fouled by Okonkwo and sent to the free throw line to attempt a one-and-one. He missed the first, but Fallah was there for the put back to put the Pokes up by 10, 75-65, with 1:26 left.
The Pokes got put in the double bonus with 57 seconds left as Anthony Roy was fouled after a defensive rebound by Coleman.
Utah turned the game into a foul fest in the final minute of the game, with the Cowboys going 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in the final minute.
Anthony Roy led both teams in scoring with 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor, 5-of-8 from 3-point range and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. He also had four rebounds and two assists.
Christian Coleman was second on the stat sheet for the Cowboys as he finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Parsa Fallah finished with 13 points on 50% shooting from the floor and Vyctorius Miller finished with 10 points on 50% shooting. Jaylen Currey finished with just two points, but finished with a team-high six assists.
As a team, the Cowboys shot 48% from the floor, 42% from 3-point range and 69% from the free throw line on 9-of-13 shooting. They outrebounded the Utes 43-34, outscored them in the paint 42-32 and it was eight turnovers apiece.
The Cowboys are back in action this coming Wednesday, Feb. 4 as they play host to BYU.
