STILLWATER – It was a great night for Oklahoma State in Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday as the Cowboys upset No. 16 BYU, 99-92. 

The win gave the Cowboys their first Quad 1 win of the season and gave the Cougars their third-straight loss.

Head coach Steve Lutz and select players met with the media following the game to discuss the win.

Quick Summary:

  • Anthony Roy scored a season-high 30 points as Oklahoma State surged past No. 16 BYU, 99-92.
  • Jaylen Curry added 18 points, Parsa Fallah grabbed seven rebounds and Kanye Clary tacked on nine assists while accounting for five of OSU's 10 steals.

Series Info: 

  • The home team has won all four Big 12 era meetings – two in Stillwater and two in Provo.
  • BYU leads the all-time series 6-5, but OSU is 3-1 in Stillwater. The last two victories have come against nationally-ranked Cougar teams.
  • This will be the only regular season meeting between the schools in 2025-26.

Team Notes

  • OSU (16-6) has now exceeded its 2024-25 regular season win total (15-16) with half of the Big 12 schedule still left to play.
  • The win was OSU’s second over a nationally-ranked opponent this season (No. 25 UCF).
  • The Cowboys are 2-3 overall against top-25 foes (2-1 in GIA).
  • Tonight’s win boosts the Cowboys home record this season to 13-2 and 26-6 in the Steve Lutz era.
  • OSU shot 34 free throws – the fifth time this season that they’ve logged 30+ attempts. 18 of the 34 tries came in the last four minutes.
  • Tonight marked the first time, under BYU head coach Kevin Young, the Cougars lost when scoring 90+ (previously 14-0). Tonight was also the first loss under Young when shooting 50% or better (previously 26-0). 
  • Prior to tonight’s contest, BYU held their opponents to 71.8 points per game. The Cowboys totalled 99 points, the most any opponent has scored against the Cougars all season. 
  • The last time BYU allowed as many points in a regular season contest was Jan. 13, 2022 against No. 2 Gonzaga.
  • The Cowboys forced 16 turnovers against the Cougars, who average just 10.7 a game. The Pokes racked up 21 points off of turnovers to BYU’s eight.
  • OSU set new Big 12 season-bests for points in the paint (51) and field goal percentage (.547).
  • The OSU reserves outscored BYU’s bench 28-9. OSU ranks second in the conference in average bench points (30.1).
  • The Cowboys are now 26-0 (16-0 this season) when reaching 81 points under head coach Steve Lutz.
  • OSU is 12-4 all-time when playing teams ranked 16th in the AP Poll.
  • OSU is now 13-0 when out-shooting its opponent.
  • OSU improved to 4-0 when its opponent shoots 50% or better from the field. The Cougars made exactly half of their 66 attempts.

Individual Notes:

  • Anthony Roy logged a season-high 30 points. It was the sixth 30-point game of his collegiate career.
  • Roy has a team-high seven 20-point games this season and has done it 20 times in 54 career games at the Division I level.
  • Roy has made a three-pointer in each of his last 18 games.
  • Roy finished 5-of-10 from deep – the sixth time this season that he’s made five-or-more in a game.
  • Roy also recorded a season high nine field goals made. 
  • Kanye Clary came up with five steals on the night, setting a new career-high. 
  • Clary has finished with more assists than turnovers in each of his last 19 games. It’s the third-longest such streak in OSU history behind Doug Gottlieb, who had runs of 20 and 23 during his three-year Cowboy career (1997-00). 
  • Freshman forward Lefteris Mantzoukas made his return to the lineup for the Cowboys tonight after missing 11 straight games. It was his first action since Dec. 13 vs. Oklahoma.

Next Game: No. 1/1 Arizona

Saturday, Feb. 7 | 3 p.m. CT | ESPN

  • The Cowboys will make a two-game desert road swing through Arizona (Saturday) and Arizona State (Tuesday).
  • Arizona -- the nation's No. 1 team -- does not have a midweek game and will take a 22-0 record into Saturday's matchup.
  • This will be OSU's first ever visit to the McKale Center. Arizona is 72-6 there under fifth-year head coach Tommy Lloyd. Eleven of the 12 Wildcat home victories this season have come by at least 25 points (an 89-82 win over Arizona State being the lone exception).
  • Arizona leads the Big 12 and ranks among the national leaders in scoring offense (11th, 89.5 ppg), rebounding margin (3rd, +13.0), field goal percentage (4th, .516), free throw makes (9th, 19.8) and fastbreak points (10th, 17.9).
  • Defensively, the Wildcats are limiting opponents to 68.5 points on 39.4% shooting (17th).
  • Arizona won the first Big 12 era meeting between the teams last year in Stillwater (92-78). This will be the only 2025-26 regular season matchup between the schools.
  • Arizona leads the all-time series, 4-0, with its most notable win coming in the 2005 Sweet 16.
