STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s NCAA tournament hopes have dwindled significantly over the past few weeks with losses to Arizona State and TCU. But the Cowboys will have a chance for a massive resume booster on Wednesday as they’ll play host to No. 8 Kansas on Wednesday.

The Cowboys have lost three-straight games in the past 10 days, 84-47 on the road to No. 1 Arizona, 85-47 on the road to Arizona State and then this past weekend at home 95-92 in overtime to TCU.

As for the Jayhawks, they beat then No. 13 Texas Tech 64-61 in Lubbock, Utah at home 71-59, No. 1 Arizona at home 82-78 and lost to No. 5 Iowa State on the road 74-56.

They’re currently No. 14 in the NET, with a 7-6 record in Quad 1 games. With that, there are some pretty good losses, if that’s something you keep track of. Top 25 losses to North Carolina, Duke and UConn in that order, then two losses in the first three games of Big 12 play to UCF and West Virginia. So, lots of concern up in Lawrence if Bill Self was going to get things turned around or was on his way out.

Definitely not on his way out, at least not forced. Since the loss to WVU, the Jayhawks have won eight out of nine games, which include ranked wins over No. 2 Iowa State, No. 13 BYU, No. 13 Texas Tech on the road, No. 1 Arizona. They were, however, beat rather handily Saturday night by No. 5 Iowa State 74-56 on the road.

Ther Jayhawks are currently fourth in the conference in scoring at 78.5 points in conference games on nearly 48% shooting from the floor and 41% from 3-poinr range, while holding opponents to 73 points per game on 40% shooting from the floor.

They’re also bringing down 37 rebounds per game, compared to 34 by the Pokes.

Freshman Darryn Peterson, when he plays, has been a force. He’s averaging 20 points per game on 46% shooting from the floor. He’s also shooting 41% from 3-point range.

Tipoff for the game on Wednesday is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will be on the NBC Sports Network and streamed on Peacock.
