Oklahoma State’s trip to Kansas City was extended by at least one more game as the Cowboys beat Colorado 92-83 in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament.

With the win, the Cowboys moved to 19-13 overall on the season. They’ll now face TCU in the second round Wednesday night at 8:30 CT on ESPNU.

Anthony Roy led all scorers with 24 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor and 10-of-11 from the free throw line with five rebounds.

Christian Coleman was next with 17 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the floor and 14 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Jaylen Curry finished with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor with five rebounds and four assists.

As a team, the Cowboys shot 45% from the floor, just 29% from 3-point range, but was an impressive 83% from the free throw line on 19-of-22 shooting.

They outrebounded the Buffs 44-34, including a 15-10 clip on the offensive line, leading to 17 second-chance point for the Pokes. They also outscored them in the paint 40-30. Turnovers weren’t a factor for either team as the Cowboys turned it over seven times and the Buffs eight times, both posting 14 points.

The Cowboys led more than half the game, with that coming in the second half. They led the game early before the Buffs went on an 11-0 run to go up 22-13 just under the 12-minute mark in the first half. The Pokes would go on an 8-0 run of their own to cut it back to a one-point game, 22-21 in favor of the Buffs.

The Pokes went on a 12-2 run towards the end of the first half to take a five-point lead, 39-34, before the Buffs drilled a big three and a three-point play at the buzzer to make it 41-40 OSU going into the break.

But the Cowboys would keep that lead the entirety of the second half, extending it out to their largest of the game, an 85-71 14-point lead with 2:15 left to go in the game. After a 3-pointer by Dak to make it an 11-point game, the Cowboys got their lead back up to 13 points with two free throws by Roy.  The Buffs, however, made it a game late as they went on a quick 5-0 run on two free throws and a 3-pointer by Johnson to make it an eight-point game, 87-79.

The Buffs would keep it interesting for a few more possessions, but the Cowboys put the game away from the free throw line.
