Oklahoma State Wrestling Secures Big 12 Postseason Honors

The Cowboys picked up some postseason awards following winning another Big 12 title.

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State wrestling picked up some postseason conference honors on Thursday. 

The Big 12 announced head coach David Taylor is the Coach of the Year, Jax Forrest the Freshman of the Year and Alex Facundo the Newcomer of the Year. 

The Cowboys finished the season with a 15-1 overall record, including a 7-0 record in Big 12 play. The lone dual loss of the season came against Iowa back in mid-November 18-16, which was rectified in the final dual of the season with a 32-11 win in Stillwater. It was the worst loss for Iowa since the early 1960s.

Forrest joined the Cowboys midyear and went a perfect 14-0 with six ranked wins, including 5-0 in Big 12 meets. 12 of his 14 wins were bonus point wins with two falls, nine tech falls and one major decision. 

He won the Big 12 title at 133 pounds rather easily, earning the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the 2026 Big 12 championships.

Facundo transferred in from Penn State and posted a 16-6 overall record, including a perfect 10-0 in Big 12 duals. He won 15 of his last 18 matches of the season heading into NCAAs, which included eight ranked wins.
