STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball has officially announced the hiring of assistant coach, Terrence Rencher, to Mike Boynton’s staff.

Rencher spent the past two seasons on Greg McDermott’s staff at Creighton.

"I'm extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity to join coach Boynton's staff here at Oklahoma State," Rencher said in the release. "The way coach Boynton is moving the program forward, as well as his core values, align perfectly with my perspective. OSU has a rich history of success on the basketball court and the possibilities are limitless. My family and I are looking forward to getting connected to the Stillwater community. Go Pokes!"

Prior to Rencher’s stint at Creighton, he spent two seasons at the University of San Diego, as well as time at New Mexico, Texas State, Tulsa and Sam Houston State.

"Coach Rencher has proven himself as an excellent teacher and developer, as well as a strong evaluator and recruiter," Boynton said in the release. "His experience as a player will serve as a great benefit to our program. Terrence has worked at all levels of college basketball and has found success in many different roles. His ability to connect with our players will be invaluable. I'm thankful to have him and his wife Faye, as well as their children joining our team."

Originally out of the Bronx, Rencher was tabbed Mr. Basketball in the state of New York in 1991 and played his college back at Texas, where he remains the leader in points (2,306) and steals (255). He was named the Southwest Conference Freshman of the Year in 1992 and played in three NCAA tournaments.

Following his collegiate career, he spent a decade playing professionally in the NBA, CBA and overseas in Europe. Drafted with the 32nd pick by the Washington Bullets, Rencher spent the 1995-96 season with the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns before spending nine seasons playing in Europe where he earned MVP awards in both Germany and Italy.
