Report: Oklahoma State Set to Host C-USA Defensive Player of the Year Kashie Natt
STILLWATER – Steve Lutz and Co. are looking to get better on the defensive end and will be doing so out of the transfer portal. According to a report from Dushawn London from 247Sports, Sam Houston transfer guard Kashie Natt is set to visit Oklahoma State on Monday.
Natt checks in at 6-3, 190 pounds and should be entering his final year of eligibility as he spent four seasons with LSU Alexandria and this past season at Sam Houston State. This past season as a grad student, Natt was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the CUSA All-Defensive team.
He started 34 of 34 games and played an average of 26.4 minutes per game. He was affective on the offensive end of the court as well as he averaged nearly 11 points per game on 43% shooting from the floor and 38% from 3-point range on 31-of-81 shooting. He also shot 78% from the free throw line on 103-of-132 shooting.
He was decent against Oklahoma State back on December 2 as he recorded nine points and six rebounds in 28 minutes.
Rebounding was a strong suit for Natt as he averaged 8.2 boards per game and a total of 278 on the year, just 77 on the offensive end and 201 on the defensive end. He recorded 69 steals, 17 blocks and 81 assists to 41 turnovers.
His defensive rebound percentage ranked 54th nationally and obviously best in the CUSA. He was also 20th in the country in steal percentage. He also recorded nine double-doubles on the season.
Natt’s time at LSU Alexandria was impressive as well. Here’s the bio from Sam Houston:
“Named the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Player of the Year last season ... the two-time NAIA All-American had one of the most impressive seasons in school history a year ago ... averaged a double-double with 19.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game in 32 starts ... shot 47.7 percent from the floor, 30.6 percent from long range and 76.7 percent from the free-throw line ... finished the season ranked 32nd nationally in scoring and 12th in rebounding among all 237 NAIA basketball teams ... after leading the Generals to the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship Round of Eight, Natt also earned All-Red River Athletic Conference first-team accolades, RRAC Player of the Year and RRAC Defensive Player of the Year as LSUA went 31-3 on the season.”
