Oklahoma State Cowgirl Basketball Adds New Strength Coach Glenn Cain
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State women's basketball has added Glenn Cain to its coaching staff as the new strength & conditioning coach, head coach Jacie Hoyt announced today.
"I'm ecstatic about Glenn becoming part of our Cowgirl family," Hoyt said. "His experience and proven ability to train high-level players, who have been successful both in college and in the pros, is the perfect fit for our roster. I've never hired anyone with more positive things said about them by coaches, players, and co-workers.
"His knowledge and enthusiasm to help our players be their best selves is something I'm excited to see translate on the court."
Cain has spent the past five years at Rutgers University, where he worked primarily with the Scarlet Knight women's basketball team, designing programs to develop speed, strength, agility and conditioning to optimize on-court performance.
"First and foremost, I'm grateful to coach Jacie Hoyt for this opportunity," Cain said. "I'm both humbled and honored to join Cowgirl Basketball. My family and I are excited to experience all that Stillwater has to offer!"
Before joining the staff at Rutgers, Cain had stops at New Mexico, Kansas, and Frostburg State University. He worked primarily with the Lobo men's basketball team as the Athletic Performance Coach during his time in New Mexico.
Prior to working at New Mexico, Cain spent five seasons with Kansas as an Assistant Sport Performance Coach, where he worked with the men's and women's basketball programs, as well as three other sports. During his tenure, eight players were selected to the NBA Draft, four of whom were lottery picks, and the women's basketball program reached back-to-back appearances in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
Cain began his professional career at Frostburg State University, where he was the program's first strength and conditioning coach and oversaw over 300 student-athletes and 21 teams.
He interned with Rutgers Football in 2007 and with the UCONN Women's Basketball team in 2009.
Cain received his Master of Education in Exercise Science and Sport Studies with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Springfield College. He previously received his undergraduate degree in Health Studies from Gettysburg College. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA.
