Eric Morris Talks Early Success and Praises Mike Gundy

FRISCO, TX – It’s Big 12 Media Days at The Star in Frisco once again, which means we’re nearly to the start of football season. But what makes this year different than the past 20-plus years, is there is a different head coach at Oklahoma State. 

Mike Gundy was the longest-tenured head coach in the Big 12 and had a ton of success during his time in Stillwater. It’s now Eric Morris, and the urgency and expectations are high in the West End Zone. 

“There’s definitely urgency for me right now because I love winning and I love competing. As soon as there’s not urgency for me to put out a good product, I’m gonna find something else to do with my time.” 

Despite the past two seasons, Oklahoma State and Gundy were synonymous with success. Where one was, you were going to find the other. So, not even just trying to overcome zero Big 12 wins the past two seasons, Morris is following up the career-long success of Gundy.

“Obviously, my predecessor had an amazing career in Mike Gundy, all the respect in the world to how much success that he had there. Being somewhere 21 years and then, obviously, he was such a great player there. So, obviously, as a competitor, you’re always chasing that and the bar’s set pretty high.”

Morris and Co. get their first chance at success at Tulsa on September 5.
