By midway through the fourth quarter at H.A. Chapman Stadium all of the offseason excitement for Cowboy football had turned to confusion.
Tulsa beat Oklahoma State 24-10 on Saturday afternoon in game one of the Eric Morris era. The Cowboys received national praise ahead of the game for both Morris’ coach prowess and the ability to build a roster around the most productive transfers who followed Morris to Stillwater from North Texas.
Those wearing orange both inside the stadium and at home were saying something much different as the game fell out of reach in the early September heat.

Others made comparisons to the 2025 season which Pokes fans have quickly tried to forget.
Even those who were not filling Oklahoma State twitter with negativity have quickly slowed the optimism which was rampant before the season started.
The sentiment was not just felt by the Oklahoma State social media presence. Tulsa coach Tre Lamb acknowledged the difference in the performance on both sidelines in his postgame message.
It certainly is a hard message to hear for Cowboy fans. Especially now that the national opinion of the program has changed.
