STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is set to face off against FCS opponent Murray State this coming Saturday. The Racers are 2-13 in their past 15 games and the Cowboys enter the game 57 ½ point favorites. Head coach Eric Morris met with the media on Tuesday to put a bow on the win over Oregon and to look ahead to the sellout match up against MSU.
"Coming off, obviously, a big win, a historical win for us, especially me and my tenure here,” Morris said in his opening statement. “Obviously, really good to celebrate with our team in the locker room. Really good to see the performance they were able to put together out there on Saturday. Proud of the effort, the intensity, but I think it just really goes to show you at our worst how bad we can be and at our best how good we can be.
"The preparation was key last week, and I thought our guys really bought into that. Just getting off the practice field here on Tuesday. I thought it was good. It was good to see our older guys. We got a lot of older guys on this -- we had some guys step up and definitely could see the leadership today and demanding the intensity and effort during practice.
"When you get into this game, going on Coach (Jody) Wright's third year there. Haven't had the success that he wants to, but he's seen success. Obviously, he won four or five national championships at Alabama. He's seen elite football at an elite level.
"For us, we gotta get better at doing our jobs. We gotta get a week better, and we know what we put on tape on two different weeks are totally opposite right now. That was the message to the team after practice today is we gotta worry about us and get one week better and continue to build momentum. We talk about momentum all the time. There's a lot of distractions, obviously, after a win like that. Us eliminating distractions will be huge, including myself. So, that'll be kind of what we're preaching this week to our players."
