STILLWATER – It was one of the best games played in Neal Patterson Stadium in the past few seasons as Oklahoma State upset No. 14 TCU 3-1 in the Big 12 opener last night.
With the win, the Pokes improved to 5-2-2 on the season and snapped a seven-match losing streak against the Horned Frogs dating back to 2017. It also marked their first win over a ranked opponent since 2024.
Three Cowgirls scored in the match, with Sonora DeFini putting the Pokes on the board first within the first minute of the second half for her fourth goal of the season. Seven minutes later, Keaton Mitchell put one in the back of the net on a header and Emmy Hedden scored her first goal of the season in the 67th minute.
TCU led 25-8 in shots, 8-4 in shots on goal, 5-3 in corners and 7-3 in fouls, but Cowgirl keeper Avery Bass finished with an OSU career-high seven saves to just one by TCU. The Cowgirls are back in action this coming Thursday on the road at Baylor.
