STILLWATER – Oklahoma State dominated from start to finish as they beat Queens (NC) 118-68.

With the win, the Pokes improved to 2-0 on the season.

This marked the most points scored by the Pokes since they scored 122 against Northwestern State on Jan. 3, 2009.

The Pokes shot a blistering 62% from the floor, 57% from 3-point range on 16-of-28 shooting and 74% from the free throw line on 14-of-19 shooting.

They outrebounded the Royals 41-31, forced 18 turnovers leading to 24 points and assisted on an impressive 30 of 44 made buckets.

12 Cowboys scored in this game, with Andrija Grbovic leading the way with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor, an impressive 5-of-6 from 3-point range and five rebounds. Along with Grbovic, five other Cowboys scored in double figures.

A concern coming into the game was the number of points scored by the Royals in their first two games, a combined 199 points, a concern because a lack of defense by the Pokes in the three preseason exhibitions. Those concerns were quickly proven to not be relevant in this game as the Pokes jumped out to a 25-point lead with just under six minutes left in the first half with a 42-18 lead.

The Pokes entered the break with a 52-31 lead, shooting 49% from the floor, 54% from 3-point range on 7-of-13 shooting. On the other end, the Pokes held the Royals to just 33% shooting from the floor in the first half, a paltry 12% from 3-point range on 2-of-17 shooting.

On the game, they held the Royals to just 35% shooting from the floor and 20% from 3-point range.

The Pokes are back in action next Thursday as they’ll face Texas A&M in College Station, TX.
