STILLWATER – We’re exactly one day out from Oklahoma State’s Big 12 road showdown against TCU in Fort Worth. Oklahoma State moved to 6-2 on the season and 5-2 in Big 12 with the 50-44 win over Texas Tech this past weekend. As for the Horned Frogs, they’re sitting at 4-4 on the season, as well as Big 12 play as they beat Kansas last week 59-23.

This will mark the 31st all-time meeting between the Cowboys and Horned Frogs as the series dates back to 1915. The Cowboys own a 16-12-2 all-time series record over the Frogs with Mike Gundy holding a 5-3 record, but the Frogs own an 8-4-2 advantage over the Pokes in Fort Worth.
With the win over Texas Tech last week, the Cowboys climbed in the updated weekly polls, as well as the College Football Playoff poll. They’re sitting at No. 19 in the Associated Press, No. 18 in the Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the CFP.

Oklahoma State is 6-2 overall on the year and is tied with Oklahoma for second place in the Big 12 standings. The Cowboys can earn a spot in the conference championship game by winning their final two regular season contests and getting some help from elsewhere in the league. The biggest storylines for the Cowboys this season have been the emergence of the Cowboy defense and the injuries suffered by the OSU offense, in particular the offensive line. OSU's defense has held its first eight opponents to an average of 375 yards of total offense per game, which if the season ended today would mark the lowest average allowed by the Cowboys since the 2009 season (332.5). The most impressive statistic from the Cowboy defense has been its ability to hold its opponents on third down. The Cowboys have held their opponents to a combined total of 29-for-118 on third down attempts for an FBS No. 2 conversion rate of 24.6 percent. The OSU defense has also scored three touchdowns this season (No. 3 in the FBS) and is among the best nationally at applying pressure, ranking No. 16 in tackles for loss and No. 19 in sacks. On offense, the Cowboys rank among the top three in the Big 12 in rushing yards per game, while wide receiver Tylan Wallace is the league's leading receiver in terms of yards and receptions, both on a per game and total basis. The offense is balanced, as the Cowboys have totaled 1,538 rushing yards and 1,713 passing yards. OSU is one of seven Power Five teams with more than 1,500 rushing yards and 1,700 passing yards this season. The OSU offense has been hit hard by the loss of personnel this year. Starting quarterback Spencer Sanders was hurt in the first quarter of the season and missed the next two games, Tylan Wallace missed the game against Kansas State, Chuba Hubbard has been playing with injuries most of the season and eight offensive linemen have been unavailable this year as well. Hubbard's injury finally forced him to miss a game last week against Texas Tech, and his backup, LD Brown - who has been performing at the best level of his career - missed the game as well. Dezmon Jackson, the third running back on the OSU depth chart, did provide one of the best stories of the Cowboy season while subbing in, as he rushed for 235 yards and three touchdowns in the first start of FBS career. On top of the already long list of injuries, kicker Alex Hale was injured in pregame warmups before the Bedlam game, and has missed the last two games as a result. All that said, OSU's 6-2 record and second-place spot in the conference standings is made even more impressive when considering the high injury rate the Cowboys have faced in an already challenging 2020 season.
