STILLWATER – The first in-person official visit to Oklahoma State in over a year has been scheduled. It was reported on Friday Mark Mitchell, a 6-8, 205-pound five-star forward out of Bishop Miege in Shawnee Mission, KS, will be in Stillwater June 19-20.

The more than a year-long in-person recruiting dead period is set to end on June 1.

Mitchell is the No. 10 ranked prospect in the 2022 class, the No. 4 ranked small forward and the No. 1 overall prospect out of Kansas. He averaged 18 points and seven rebounds a game this past season as a junior. Following helping lead Bishop Miege to the Kansas 4A state championship, Mitchell was named the co-winner of the 2021 Direnna Award, which is given to the best high school basketball player in the Kansas City metro.

He’s earned offers from some of the top programs in the country, including Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Duke, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, North Carolina, UCLA and USC among others.

This is huge news for Oklahoma State and Mike Boynton as they just landed KU transfer, and forward five-star guard out of Booker T. Washington, Bryce Thompson. Thompson marks the second five-star for Boynton and Co. in as many seasons.

The main recruiting focus for the coaching staff with the 2021 class was the transfer portal. When it comes to the 2022 class, it’s evident with Mitchell’s official visit Boynton and Co. are back to pursuing some of the top high school talent in the country.
