Oklahoma State Schedule: No More Texas and Gundy Says Lack of Lone Star Dates No Problem

If it's not a problem now then why was it so important before?

Is this a sign to come of north-south dvisions in the "new" B12? OSU, if there are divisions, needs to advocate for an east/west divide so we have as many games as possible in Texas for recruiting purposes.

There are no divisions, it is a non-divisional format.

They have not established permanent opponents, and those will be set by team not pods.

Texas Tech will probably be one of our permanent games once Texas leaves as we have OU protected and they have UT, so that's the logical move. Maybe BYU or UH, and KSU or KU will be our other permanent opponent.

We are playing 9 games, and there are currently 13 other teams so we miss 4 teams. So yes we did draw the short straw regarding Texas this time around. However, after we drop to 12 teams in 2025 then you only miss two teams so you can never have a year with less than 2 Texas teams on the schedule, and we could easily wind up with two Texas teams as permanent opponents. So we'd either always have 3 Texas teams on the schedule or have 3 or 4 most years with a few with 2.

So Gundy has no reason to worry as it is only a one or two year schedule.

As for the early exit, I don't care, but outside of Oklahoma media and the national press that just can't imagine OU & UT won't get their way the facts are that FOX turned down their offer of OOC games. It also was reported by Dodds that currently there are no talks ongoing or in the works. They may want out, but it's up to FOX, and ESPN is doing nothing to help this to happen. ESPN loses a lot of money if they give up the games FOX would want to get this to work. FOX wants games not money, so OU & UT don't have a lot of options. They may find a way, but its going to be very difficult for them to get out.

If that's true then I would agree. I look forward to future games in Utah also. Will help us establish a pipeline more into the state because it's obvious we want to land kids from there

Here's a source, who's a jerk but has the info on the exit most likely. out learning their not the center of the universe is a tough lesson for them to learn. They had all the local press convinced because they wanted out they would get out, but FOX & ESPN just told them your merely bigger pawns in our game.
