(The Big 12 Conference contributed to this story originated by Robert Allen with Pokes Report.)

STILLWATER – The Big 12 Conference announced the game times for the first three weeks or the non conference portion of the upcoming football season and they also announced television assignments and kickoff times for some special games later in the 2023 season on May 31. Oklahoma State will have all three of their non conference games kickoff at night including a really late start (9:30 p.m. CT) for the Sept. 9 road tilt at Arizona State. That game will be telvided on FS1. The other two home games will kick off at the athletic department’s preferred 6 p.m. September kickoff as both the Sept. 2 game with Central Arkansas and, surprisingly, the Sept. 16 game with South Alabama will be streamed on ESPN+ and Big 12 Now.

Oklahoma State has a first ever Friday home game with Kansas State. The Cowboys have played several Friday games in the past, but always on the road. This time Oklahoma State will host Kansas State at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN on Friday, Oct. 6.

All other Oklahoma State games will be subject to selection two weeks prior to the game or with the six day window when the television partners of the Big 12 choose that option.

Those games are:

Sept. 23 - Oklahoma State at Iowa State

Oct. 14 - Kansas at Oklahoma State

Oct. 21 - Oklahoma State at West Virginia

Oct. 29 - Cincinnati at Oklahoma State (Homecoming)

Nov. 4 - Oklahoma at Oklahoma State

Nov. 11 - Oklahoma State at UCF

Nov. 18 - Oklahoma State at Houston

Nov. 25 - BYU at Oklahoma State

The 2023 season marks the Big 12’s first as a 14-team league as it officially welcomes BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston on July 1.

The season kicks off on Thursday, August 31 as UCF hosts Kent State on FS1 and Kansas welcomes Missouri State for a matchup on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. The remaining 12 games will be contested on Saturday, September 2, highlighted by two autonomy five outings. CFP National Championship runner-up TCU hosts Colorado on FOX’s opening week Big Noon Saturday matchup, with Big Noon Kickoff on-site to provide pregame coverage. Additionally, West Virginia travels to Penn State in a prime time game on NBC.

Another full slate of non-conference games is on the Week 2 schedule with seven of the 14 against A5 opponents. ESPN will feature Utah at Baylor as well as Texas at Alabama. FOX will carry the Iowa at Iowa State rivalry along with Oregon at Texas Tech. The first conference game of the season will highlight Week 3 with TCU traveling to Houston for a prime time matchup on FOX.

Times and television information are also set for the Big 12’s additional six special date selections, which are all conference matchups. Two league games are scheduled for Thursday night broadcasts while four will be played on Fridays, including a “Black Friday” double-header as the regular season wraps up over Thanksgiving weekend.

The Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship will return to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the ninth year. The game is slated for Saturday, December 2 with an 11:00 a.m. kickoff on ABC. The Big 12 had the second-highest attendance of last season’s conference title games with 69,335 spectators. The Championship delivered 9.4M viewers on ABC, the most-watched Big 12 Championship since 2018. It peaked at 12.7M viewers, the most of any conference championship across all networks.

The remainder of the season’s television selections will be announced on a 12-day or six-day notice via Big12Sports.com and the Conference’s official digital platforms.

none of the early games being broadcast except ASU, and that game is so late at night that nobody in the East Coast media will bother to watch.

That ASU game is a strong example of what to expect if the B12 expands West....

Yes it is
then why do we have separate media deals for TV and for streaming?

Why is everybody in the Pac12 so miffed about NOT GETTING a broadcast network, and only BEING LEFT WITH online streaming partners?

They are far, far, far from the same thing

No national or regional audience, no top-tier broadcasters, no TV crews with expanded replay and graphics capabilities.
