STILLWATER – Oklahoma State just landed another defensive commitment in the 2024 class. Temerrick Johnson, an edge rusher out of Midlothian (TX) Heritage took to social media on Friday to make the announcement. It is a tribut to his dad on his father’s birthday.
Johnson, who checks in at 6-4, 205 pounds, chose the Pokes over offers from Boise State, BYU, Cal, Houston, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oregon State and Utah among others.
This past season as a junior, Johnson played as an edge rusher, recording 32 total tackles, six tackles for loss and a team-high 3.5 sacks, as well as nine quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery in just eight games played.
Heritage finished the season 11-2, losing in overtime in the regional finals to eventual champion South Oak Cliff 33-27. They finished a perfect 7-0 in district play.
As a sophomore, Johnson recorded an impressive 45 total tackles, six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
In the offseason he attended the Next Level football combine in the DFW Metroplex and won the award for top linebacker prospect and performer.
His frame, speed and strength makes him ideal for Joe Bob Clements’ hybrid backer spot, both off the edge and somewhere standing in the box.
Johnson marks the 12th commitment for the Pokes in the class, as he joins fellow defensive players Willie Nelson, Landyn Cleveland, Jaylen Boardley, Armstrong Nnodim, Gunnar Wilson and David Kabongo, as well as Caleb Hackleman, Tre Griffiths, Rodney Fields, Josh Ford and Chauncy Johnson on the offensive side.
