Tight Ends and Fullbacks Won't Just Be Blocking for Cowboys

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State went through a two hour plus practice this morning (friday, Aug. 11) inside and outside the Sherman Smith Training Center. A big emphasis was on two minute work and also running the four minute drill and trying to kill the clock and put away a win using the offense. The defensive chalenge in both situations is to get the stop. In this practice a year ago, the weapons the defense had to be concerned about would have been fewer, a running back and any receivers.

Thanks Robert. I called this in from Grand Junctuon (month long RV trip) and you're a great, very appreciated window of information back to the Cowboys.

Although I look forward to more involvement from fullbacks and tight ends in this offense, I'm concerned opposing defenses will be able to recognize offensive tendencies based on who's in the game between Johnson and Edenfield. I.e. more likely run play vs. pass play.

and how would that be any different from the past years with the CW in there. They had the short stocky guy or the taller guy split more wide. I wonder what play we'll call?

If the OC Is any good at all, there should be no way for them to know what to expect regardless of who is in the lineup. Will he block, will he go in motion then block, will he fake block and pop out over the middle... etc.

Will the TE block, will the FB roll out to the flat for a pass?

The personnel does not have to mean predictable.

I like your optimism Robert, but 36+ FB rushes is more than 3 per game!! With a full RB group wanting carries.

60 TE passes? That's over 5 per game! With our WR personnel?

I'm as anxious as anybody to see what we can do, but WOW, that's a lot.
