Yormark Goes Unedited In Lubbock, Says What He Really Feels, What Most of Us Feel

STILLWATER – Talking to Big 12 CommisBrett Yormark at the Big 12 Football Media Days in Arlington, Texas in July and he told a group of us that he would demand that Texas and Oklahoma be treated fair and just in their final season in the conference. The Big 12 would show it’s professionalism in every way in how the Longhorns and Sooners were treated this final year as Big 12 members.

Interestingly, I was asked by a listener on my radio show on Triple Play Sports Radio on Wednesday if OU and Texas playing for the Big 12 Football Championship would be the worst scenario for the Big 12? I answered truthfully that it would, but I quoted Commissioner Yormark on how they must be treated fair.

I’m sure they will be, but the Commissioner was in Lubbock a few hours later speaking to the Texas Tech’s Red Raider Club at their kickoff luncheon.

“Candidly, we were able to get Texas and Oklahoma out (of the Big 12) a year early. That was a big deal for us and I think all of you,” Yormark said with a little grin. “And Coach (Texas Tech head football coach Joey McGuire), I’m not going to put any pressure on you, but I’m going to be in Austin on Thanksgiving. And you better take care of business like you did right here in Lubbock last year.”

Yormark is catching grief for his comments in Austin, for sure, and points east as in Southeast Conference. I’m guessing their will be a Greg Sankey response soon. Sankey loves a good spat between conferences. He might want to watch it. Yormark is a spitfire.

Safe to say that Yormark’s comments were received quite well in Lubbock, Stillwater, Fort Worth, Waco, Houston, Ames, Boulder, Lawrence, Manhattan, and Morgantown. The rest of the new members and the future members have not had to share a conference with the Sooners and especially the Longhorns, so they might not understand.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yormark could easily defend his comments when speaking to a Zero or Whorn or whomever by simply stating - "sorry, but it's better for the conference going forward if two teams not named OU or UT were in the 2023 B12 CCG".

Who would think a divorcing couple should live together two more years even though their divorce is final and signed off. I can't understand why OU and UT wouldn't have the same viewpoint. The relationship is broke, it's not getting repaired, we don't want each other anymore......now how long should we stay around each other before we go to the other folks whom we have already married!

Certainly. I was just providing a public comment option.
