STILLWATER – I usually don’t do many comparisons. Honestly, I don’t think it is fair. Everybody is their own person, their own soul. However, with running backs it is so hard not to compare. The next time you see a powerful back that is extra shifty, I dare you not to think of Barry Sanders.

Part of it was injuries in 2021 as another poster noted!!! Another, based upon an interview with a former Michigan State teammate who transferred via the portal to one of the Florida schools in a 24/7 article, was that there was a coaching change with Mel Tucker taking over for Mark Dantonio in 2020 (Dantonio recruited Collins)! The former teammate said that there was friction between Tucker and the current players his first two seasons and many were relegated to back up staus due to this friction!!! He, Tucker, really exerted his will on the program after he had a surprise 11-2 season in 2021!!! They crashed back down to earth last season with a 5-7 record and missed making a bowl game!!! Many guys like Elijah who received their degrees but had eligibility jumped into the portal for better opportunities!!!

I expect EC to be the go to guy. He is big, fast, experienced, and auditioning for the NFL. I do believe we have a nice group of backs but based on all I have read it's my guess that he will be RB1/. I am so ready for football!!!
