Oklahoma State Players Tucked Away and Getting Ready for Iowa State

ANKENY, Iowa – Oklahoma State football has had to wait that long week that always follows the first loss of a football season. Practices were moved to the grass fields on the grounds of the Sherman Smith Training  Center. The practices were physical and intense and the feeling around this team is solid and ready to get back on the right side of the scoreboard.

Defensive players grazing at the snack in the team meal room.

The 3 p.m. kickoff at Jack Trice Stadium (FS1 and Cowboys Radio Network) is the first day game of the season and lights out tonight at the Ankeny Courtyard Marriot is 10 p.m. for the players. Before lights out the players all stop by the meeting room for snack. There are multiple sandwich choices including hamburgers and chicken sandwiches, a wide assortment of fruits, cereal options, and an assortment of cookie choices. Water,Gatorade, and milk (chocolate and regular) are the beverage choices.

Wake up is 9 a.m. with breakfast, meetings, chapel, and then a pregame meal before the team buses leave at 12:40 p.m.

As reported this week we expect the offense line to change with Dalton Cooper at left tackle, Jake Springfield at right tackle, Jason Brooks Jr. at left guard, Preston Wilson at right guard, and Joe Michalski at center. We believe Ollie Gordon starts at running back. We also know that wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling is cleared to play, made the trip, and is expected to start.

Quarterback is anybody’s guess. Head coach Mike Gundy said on Monday that the quarterback rotation will continue. The starter is not announced, but the most experienced quarterback in transfer Alan Bowman, who has started two games at Iowa State when he played at Texas Tech, has started the past two games for the Cowboys.

The weather is very sketchy for Saturday with the forecast of thunderstorms likely in the afternoon, A few storms may be severe. The high is 80 degrees with winds out of the southeast at 10-20 mph. Chance of rain is 80 percent.

Oklahoma State is 2-1 and the game at Iowa State is the conference opener before the Cowboys get a week off.

According to the internet, most of the team will quit after the game so they can transfer somewhere that will take care of their NIL handlers and agents and give the red carpet treatment to their parents. So I guess Cooper to left tackle is all for naught.

FWIW - Gunnar started against Iowa State last year, and had us in a good position to win when Coach Gundy needlessly panicked and put in Sanders.

Gunnar did get the win, having been the starter.

not revisionist, and all completely true.

Gunnar started. Gunnar got the win.

Coach pulled Gunnar with 53 seconds to go in the 3rd Qtr, when he threw an INT. we were down only 10-14.

We immediately got the ball back next play with our own interception, but Sanders came in and went 3-n-out at the start of the 4th.

Iowa State never scored again, and you don't think Gunnar could have gotten us 4 points in the last quarter? On the FG, we took over on downs at the ISU 24, and went 3-n-out, so clearly Gunnar could have gone 3.-n-out for the FG for at least 13-14 score.

Out of Sanders 5 drives in the game, 4 were 3-n-out, with the one TD drive.

We'll never know, but come one, it's not revisionist, more like unrealized potential.

Tell my why you don't think Gunnar could have gotten us those 3 points in the Qtr after already giving us 10.

Is it my revisionist, or your bias against Gunnar?
