Watch: Mike Gundy Ahead of the First Full Pads Practice of Spring Football
STILLWATER – It’s an exciting day at the Sherman Smith Indoor facility on Tuesday as it marks the first day of full pads this spring for Oklahoma State football. So, if you’re driving down Hall of Fame this afternoon and hear a lot of whooping and hollering, don’t be alarmed, it’s just the guys getting into it for the first time in more than four months.
Head coach Mike Gundy met with the media ahead of the practice and had a lot of say about various topics, including the reps the offensive line is getting, the running back room and how the transfer portal is affecting quarterback rooms.
You can hear all that in the video above.
“We’ve got a couple of guys that aren’t going to get as much contact this spring with [injury] repairs over the offseason, so there will be plenty of reps to go around,” Gundy said of the offensive line. “The one advantage we have now is there’s a lot of reps in spring football. So, our ones, twos and threes get reps. We added [reps for] threes during the COVID year and it’s been really great for us all the way through. When practice is over, the offensive line is fatigued; they get a lot of work. So, with only having 10 or so incoming transfers at semester instead of 28 last year, there will be plenty of reps to go around.”
Pokes Report will have an exclusive practice report coming soon, as well as complete coverage of the player availability after practice.
