First Preseason Football Magazine Out, Lindy's Picks Pokes to Win Big 12 and Make CFPC
STILLWATER – I fully expect that there will be fewer college football preview magazines out this summer, not because college football is less popular because it isn’t. Less magazines because magazines sell less with the internet. Lindy’s Sports College Football National 2024 Preview is out with multiple covers and I personally ordered the Oklahoma and Oklahoma State cover with the Cowboys Doak Walker Award winning running back Ollie Gondon II and OU linebacker Danny Stutsman on the cover.
Lindy’s has their top 10 listed on the cover.

Oklahoma State is right outside of that picked 12th with Penn State at 11th. Lindy’s gives credit to
Mike Gundy and his consistency. They cite the Cowboys with the fourth best returning production level in the nation and the return of Ollie Gordon on offense and Collin Oliver on defense. Their bad news is almost fluky as they list the lack of success of teams the season after they make the Big 12 championship and then dropping back the next season. There is a trend for that but trends are made to be bucked. They list the stability of the program as the major reason they are picking the Cowboys to win the Big 12 and to be ranked No. 12 in the Top 25.
They pick Utah at No. 16 and Oklahoma as No.. 18 in the Top 25. Then Lindy’s has Kansas at No. 20, Kansas State No. 21, Arizona No. 23, and Iowa State No. 24. West Virginia is given some solid credit at No. 30.
The only first-team All-American selection is Ollie Gordon II and they rank him as the first overall running back in the nation. Quinshon Judkins of Ohio State is their other first team running back.
At receiver they rank Brennan Presley seventh at wide receiver and Rashod Owens at thirteenth. Joe Michalski is ranked fifth among all centers.
On defense, Collin Oliver is fourth among outside linebackers and Nick Martin is ranked seventh at inside linebacker.
In Unit Rankings, Oklahoma State is fifth in offensive lines and tenth at linebackers.
They actually pick Oklahoma State and their opening Big 12 Conference Utah to play again in the Big 12 Championship Game.
Honestly, Pokes Report feels very similar about all of thee issues. We would have rated the Oklahoma State offensive backfield among the top 10 because we feel Alan Bowman is going to be much improved at quarterback after getting back under center and playing most of last season.
We like Oklahoma State, Utah, and Kansas State at the top of the league. We also like Kansas and Iowa State as top teams. We think that West Virginia and UCF are going to be good as well and very dangerous.
All Big 12 Cowboys in Lindy’s include Gordon II, Presley, Michalski, Oliver, and Martin all on the first-team. On the second-team are Rashod Owens and tackle Dalton Cooper. Safety and now linebacker Kendal Daniels is on their third-team.
In the Scouting Report a coach from another team says: “I think one thing where they did a really good job was that they struggled, then went back and identified who they were. If they were that team all year, they probably win against South Alabama. They were a totally different team. He gets credit, but I don’t think Mike Gundy gets enough credit for being one of the best coaches in the country. Year in and year out, he goes out and wins 9-10 games. Last year they had 30-something guys go in the portal and all they did was find guys to replace them and win games. The flip side of that: Can their quarterback play well enoough again? he has some really good receivers around him. Can Ollie Gordon, with as many carries and hits as he had, can he have the same kind of year?”
I would advise either going out and buying a copy of the magazine or order it online and get the cover you want.
