Alan Bowman Receives Spot on Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State quarterback Alan Bowman is on the watch list for the 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, the Wuerffel Foundation announced Thursday.
With a record 111 FBS players on its watch list, the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is college football's premier award for community service and one of the most meaningful awards in collegiate sports. Bowman was one of nine quarterbacks named to the list and part of 16 total representatives from the Big 12.
One of most experienced leaders on the team, Bowman is coming off a successful 2023 season in which he helped guide the Cowboys to an appearance in the Big 12 Championship game and 10 wins overall. He threw for 247.1 yards per game throughout the year, good for second in the conference, and added 17 total touchdowns. Bowman's passing yard average increased to 285.9 against Big 12 competition, which eventually led to the seventh-highest single-season passing total in school history with 3,460 yards.
Bowman was also selected to the Wuerffel Trophy watch list in 2023 and received a spot on the CSC Academic All-District Team following the season.
Some of Bowman's time spent serving the community include partnering with Access Scholarships to award a $1,000 "Sack the Stigma" scholarship to a student who recognizes the importance of speaking out about mental health, working alongside the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health to create awareness about the 988 Oklahoma Mental Health Lifeline, speaking to youth groups in various cities about the importance of mental health and volunteering to help raise funds for Cowboys vs. Cancer.
Five other Cowboys have also been tabbed by watch lists this week, including Nick Martin and Collin Oliver for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Joe Michalski and Dalton Cooper for the Outland Trophy and Ollie Gordon II for the Maxwell Award.
