STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace and Alex Hale have been named national award semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award and the Lou Groza National Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, respectively.
The news came down on Monday afternoon, marking the third time Tylan Wallace has been named a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff and first time Hale has been named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award.
Wallace, who was a finalist for the award in 2018, leads the Big 12 this season in receiving yards with 877, in receiving yards per game with 97.4 and receptions per game with 5.9. There’s a really good chance Wallace would’ve been named a finalist for the award last season, but he tore his ACL prior to the TCU game.
As for Hale, the redshirt sophomore had made 13-of-14 field goal attempts this season before going down with an injury in Bedlam pregame warmups. This is the first year that Hale has been a starter and is the only qualified kicker who is averaging better than two field goals per game this season with 2.17 per game.
The finalists for each award will be announced on Dec. 22, with the winners being announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards on Jan. 7. There will be three finalists named for each award.
