Oklahoma State Adds Former Husker Jaylen Lloyd to Receiving Corps

STILLWATER – Through the transfer portal Oklahoma State has been trying to add to its roster of outside receivers with size, but if you can’t find or get the receivers with size then got the outside receivers that play bigger than their size. That is the case with Nebraska receiver Jaylen Lloyd.

The sophomore from Omaha is 5-11. 180 pounds but thanks to his athletic abilities, primarily his leaping abilities he plays bigger. In high school at the 2022 National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships he finished first in the long jump and third in the 100-meters. In Nebraska, as a senior at Westside High School he swept the long jump, triple jump, and 100-meters at the all-class state meet.

He was a standout prep wide receiver that was All-State as a senior at Westside and All-Metro in the Omaha World-herald as a junior at Omaha Central. His senior year was cut short because of injury but he still had 44 receptions for 784 yards and five touchdowns.

Lloyd with a catch this past season against Colorado.

At Nebraska, Lloyd was an excellent student and contributor to the community. I put that first because he backed it up playing in 10 games as a true freshman and starting one of those games. He finished with five receptions for 237 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged 47 yards a catch.

Last season he started three games and played in all 12 contests with 12 receptions for 248 yards.

He will be a junior when he starts for the Cowboys and is expected to play outside at the X-or-Z position. Lloyd is the 21stprospect the Cowboys have taken out of the transfer portal, and he is the third wide receiver and the eighth offensive skill player.

Fantastic!!

This coaching staff has done pretty much what they said they needed to do, personnel wise: More WRs, OL, LB, DL - and that's pretty much what we got. Plus a new QB and RB

I believe that the roster is shaping up nicely, and it will be very interesting to see the impacts and changes by the new OC and new DC.

Can I say that again, new OC and new DC.

Rob Glass I don't believe is part of the football "coaching" staff, his title is something like "Associate AD for strength and conditioning "

No, most of the support staff, including Rob Glass and his guys are still here.

Seems short for a Z or X at his current height, 5'10". But Hopefully his leaping abilities help him.

Per RA think of him as a taller James Washington. His tape shows him getting open deep and catching balls well so I think he'll help out there.

That's the hope, his speed and athleticism will make him play bigger, like James Washington.

Washington was 5'11" in 247 profile, this guy is 5'10". He does have that speed that we need. We got a lot of speed on inside, and lot of TEs to throw on Goal line.

RA asked him this morning and he said he's 5-11. Not arguing, just stating. lol.

Tylan was also a smaller receiver with speed and athleticism. I'm not saying this guy is going to win a Biletnikoff, but the precedent for a good, yet smaller outside receiver is there.

So relieved that our OC and DC are history. Both nice guys but in over their heads as coordinators.
College football rosters is like playing musical chairs. New roster each season. Nothing good comes out of this. Play for pay sucks. I realize it's always been pay for play with the blue bloods, but now that it's out in the open and transfer as much as you want, the sport just is not the same. Free agents every season. I feel bad for Mike Gundy have to tolerate this nonsense started by Notre Dame players suing the NCAA.

I was with you right up till that last line.... I believe NIL was the result of a lawsuit by 2 women from Fresno State, or some such, depending on how you count, maybe that UCLA BB player before that.

and before we get all high and mighty, we need to make sure and look our collective OSU selves in the face and eat a healthy portion of that humble pie.

Hubbard vs. the NCAA is yet another antitrust case, seeking damages for athletes who were denied education-related stipends that were the result of the Alston case. The plaintiffs include former Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard and former Auburn track athlete Keira McCarrell, and the lawsuit seeks triple damages for all current and former Division I athletes as far back as 2018.
