Linebacker Jeff Roberson Enters Transfer Portal

STILLWATER – A late portal addition into the transfer portal for Oklahoma State as linebacker, Jeff Roberson, announced he’s entering as a grad transfer. 

Roberson, a redshirt senior out of Choctaw, OK, made a big impact at linebacker for the Pokes this past season with Nick Martin going out with injury early in the year.

Roberson played in all 12 games this past season, recording 58 total tackles, 42 of which were solo stops. He had 8.5 tackles for a loss of 39 yards, 3.0 sacks for a loss of 22 yards, one interception and seven quarterback hurries.

The best game of his career came against West Virginia this past season where he recorded 12 total tackles, six of which were solo stops, 2.0 tackles for loss and one sack. 

He redshirted his first season in Stillwater in 2020, recorded four total tackles in 2021, missed 2022 due to injury and recorded 10 total tackles in 2023.

He was on scholarship. The other guy you're thinking about is Parker Robertson. No relation.

Zach - I'm not as close to the rules, but the portal deadline has passed (until Spring) - right? Maybe he filed paperwork on time and it's just now fully processed? Anyway , doesn't matter I suppose. If he doesn't want to be here, then he would leave one way or the other - end result is the same. There will be more in the Spring no doubt once depth charts start to take early shape.

Yeah that was my thoughts on it as well. Let me double check on the rules and I'll let you know what I find out, but it might be different for grad transfers.

I have seen other grad transfers go in at different times and I don't think they are held to the portal deadline as that rule was made to allow them to pursue grad school at a different school.

Yeah it's what I thought it was, and what NJAggie said, grad transfers can enter the portal regardless of deadline because they're not held to those guidelines. Robert just said on his show he believes he entered the portal because of the JUCO players who were brought in were being paid more and would probably play more. I wish Jeff all the luck because he represented Oklahoma State down to the letter just about better than anyone else.

I'd say it was always a part of it, but the system didn't allow athletes to move on to greener pastures. And, I'm not going to pick on the kids, because society as a whole works that way.

Neither of them were walk-ons, not that that matters IMO, but Logan played at OU and Jeff OSU. I'm their mom.
