FRISCO, Texas – There was a good crowd of mostly purple-clad TCU fans in the stands at Amon Carter Stadium on the Saturday night and by this point Oklahoma State in football was startling to looklike a shell of itself on the field. TCU was not playing as well as they felt going into the 2024 season, but the Frogs wereplaying for bowl eligibility in the 10th game of the season.. The Frogs came out on fire and their one-and-a-half-year starting quarterback Josh Hoover was playing well. Media are generally expected to be unbiased and show little or no emotion, but on the sidelines an attractive female reporter toting a camera was obviously enjoying the show. KOCO Channel 5 sports reporter Hannah Hoover was excited.

Hoover was sharp against the Cowboys.

“Definitely, it’s hard not to smile. I can keep it pretty professional in any other game, but when he is playing it is hard. It is hard,” Hannah said of covering last year’s Oklahoma State at TCU game. The he is her younger brother and TCU quarterback Josh Hoover.

“It’s exciting because you have been through all the things, family, you’ve been watching him since he was in little league,” she said. “You have a horse in the race, it is hard not to smile.”

Little brother was 26-of-35 in the contest for 286-yards and a second quarter touchdown pass to Savion Williams. TCU led at halftime 24-0 and finished with a 38-13 win.

“It was, really cool for her to be there,” Hoover said of the game with Oklahoma State. “My mom loved it for sure.”

The Hoovers, which includes dad Alex, a former college (Colorado State) linebacker and briefly in the NFL, and mom, Tammy, have an athletic family that also includes Hannah, who graduated from the University of Florida and started in the media in the DFW-area and then worked television in Waco before coming to Channel 5 in Oklahoma City.

Advantage or disadvantage that she has covered games with both OSU and the previous year OU playing her little (6-1, 200) brother.

“I don’t cover TCU on a regular basis, but I feel like I know how to keep my mouth shut on certain things,” Hannah said of the typical player-reporter-or-media relationship. “Josh is chill on certain things as a rule. He kind of tells you things on a need-to-know basis for all of our family. I don’t think he is going to spill many beans. He is pretty low key, fun guy. He sticks to himself a lot. He is a great brother and we had a lot of fun together.”

“She knows if something gets out then I’m coming straight to her,” Hoover said kidding. “ I love having her in the sports world. It is cool for me to see her talking sports on television. I’m excited to follow here career and I think she is going to be doing great things.”

Hannah has already covered an NBA Finals series on the side of the World Champions in the Oklahoma City Thunder. He general manager is an Oklahoma State graduate in Brent Hensley.

“Speaking of Brent (Hensley), he came over to my desk and asked how long I’d been in this business and I said, ‘not long enough to be covering the NBA Finals,’” Hoover recounted a conversation with her General Manager during the recent Thunder NBA Championship run. “It was fun and a really cool experience. And the college athletics, when I took this job I was so excited to cover OSU, OU, and Thunder as well. You don’t know they are going to be at that level on that kind of stage so soon. Now, I’m appreciating the moment even more than when it was going on.”

But, she did add that this season might be easier because of a game not on the schedule.

“Thankfully, Oklahoma State and TCU aren’t playing again this year,” added Hannah.
