STILLWATER – After an impressive performance in Session 4 ahead of the Peach Jam, Steve Lutz and Co. extended an offer to 2027 Southmoore (OK) point guard, Tyson Pogi.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Tyson is the son of former Cowboy quarterback, Aso Pogi.

He was at Mustang, before transferring to Southmoore last fall.

Pogi checks in at 6-0, 160 pounds and is coming off an impressive spring with Mokan, an AAU team out of Midwest City, OK, in the EYBL. He currently holds two offers, the one from the Cowboys and St. Louis.

Across session 4, Pogi averaged nearly 16 points, four rebounds and three assists a game, with less than one turnover.

He’s been on the coaching staff’s radar for a while now, especially after a solid performance at Steve Lutz’ team camp this past spring.

Pogi and Mokan are in Pool D at Peach Jam, competing with Brad Beal Elite, Oakland Soldiers, Team Final, Team Thad and Expressions. They’ll face off against Expressions at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15. Here’s their complete schedule for the next few days.

I had a chuckle when I saw his surname. Pogi in Tagalog, main language in the Philippines means handsome/good looking....for a guy! Brag that up, Tyson, LOL!

Aso was a great character guy and tough football player. Would love to see his son playing in Stilly. I live close to Southmoore so will have to catch some games to check him out.

wondering of Aso being a FB coach has instilled a bit of the gym rat coach's kid attitude in Tyson.

" Across session 4, Pogi averaged nearly 16 points, four points and three assists a game, with less than one turnover."

does anybody have the correct stats? I assume that is four steals, or possibly RBs.

It was simply a typo, but one could easily assume it was supposed to read rebounds based on how basketball stats are written about.
