Robert Allen gave me a call this morning on his way in Stillwater to tell me what he heard on the Rick Neuheisel Show. He said 'Zach, who do the Cowboys open the season with?' To which I replied it's obviously UT Martin. He told me good job (sarcastically) and ask if I knew who Alabama just named as their starting quarterback, to which I told him I did see it on social media.

I was struggling to see the connection because we don't need to pay attention to Alabama football until the Pokes play them in Stillwater in 2028. So, I asked Robert what his point was to which he told me Ty Simpson, who was just named the starting quarterback at Alabama, is the son of UT Martin head coach, Jason Simpson.

Nothing to do with Oklahoma State, other than the connection with Jason Simpson, who's been at UT Martin just about as long as Mike Gundy. He currently holds a 124-92 overall record, having won four-straight conference titles with the Skyhawks.
