National Signing Day: Oklahoma State Signs Wide Receiver Dayvon Standard
Dayvon Standard, WR, 6-4, 185, Goodyear (Desert Edge), Ariz.
Athletic Traits: Standard has plenty as he is a three-sport high school athlete in track with 23.17 seconds in the 200-meters and 52.39 in the 400-meters. His explosion shows with a best 22'2" in the long jump and a 46'1.25" in the triple jump. In basketball, he averaged 8.9 points and 4.1 rebounds a game as a junior.
High School Honors and Statistics: Senior season earned 1st team All-Region as a WR despite only playing in six games, 23 receptions for 463 yards and 10 TDs with an average of 20.1 yards per catch; Played at Buckeye (Union), Ariz. previously; Junior season had 52 receptions for 717 yards, seven TDs, and an average of 13.8 yards per catch and on defense had 26 tackles, 16 unassisted, one TFL, two interceptions, two fumbles recovered, and one fumble forced; Sophomore season had 13 receptions for 249 yards, three TDs and a 19.2 yards per catch average.

Our Thoughts: He is a true "X-type" outside receiver that can line up and just go vertical and make plays, which he did a lot in high school and that shows up in the yards-per-catch numbers. He has good take off and speed to run away from defenders. He has worked on and does well with the popular back shoulder throws. He has good overall ball skills and can go up and take the ball away, his size and explosion help a lot with that. Standard tracks the ball well and has good timing on his jumps. He shows he is not afraid to run routes across the middle and anticipates the ball well on horizontal routes. The only questions really come up on blocking as I didn't see much of that.
