Oklahoma State found out why Arizona is the No. 1 team in the country as they beat the Cowboys 84-47 out in Tucson, AZ.
With the loss, the Cowboys fell to 16-7 overall and 4-6 in Big 12 play.
As a team, the Cowboys shot just 25% from the floor, 21% from 3-point range and 48% from the free throw line on 11-of-23 shooting.
Anthony Roy led the Cowboys in scoring with 10 points on 3-of-11 shooting from the floor, 3-of-10 from 3-point range and 1-of-2 from the free throw line. Parsa Fallah finished with eight points and Kanye Clary with seven
The Cowboys were outrebounded 55-35, including a 44-25 margin on the defensive end, outscored in the paint 54-14 and 28-11 off the bench. Turnovers were negligible at 12 apiece, but the Wildcats scored 16 points compared to just four points by the Pokes.
The Cowboys had multiple five-plus minute scoring droughts across both halves, which correlated with double-digit runs by the Wildcats. Freshman Ryan Crotty ended the near-7-minute drought with a corner 3-pointer, making it 55-28.
It took the Pokes until nine minutes left in the game to hit the 30-point mark. For comparison, they had 31 points just 12 minutes into the game against BYU. With just under seven minutes left in the game, the Wildcats were up over the Pokes by 40 points, 74-34.
The Cowboys held the Wildcats scoreless over the last two minutes, while going on a 6-0 run on the other end to avoid being doubled up on the scoreboard, which would’ve been the first time since 1934 of that happening.
The Cowboys are back in action on Tuesday as they’re staying out in Arizona for a game against Arizona State in Tempe.
