Tay Martin and Other Former Oklahoma State Players Land with the UFL
STILLWATER – A good friend of mine, former Colorado, Washington, and UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel is now coaching the Dallas Renegades of the UFL and his team debuted today with a 36-17 win over the Houston Gamblers coached by former University of Arizona and Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin and his running backs coach is K.C. Gundy, the nephew of Mike Gundy. Also, former Oklahoma State defensive tackle Israel Antwine plays for Houston. Antwine had four tackles and a tackle-for-loss in the opener with Dallas in Frisco, Texas.
Sunday night (March 29) the Columbus Aviators will play at the Orlando Storm and one of the primary receving targets for Columbus is former Oklahoma State receiver that also played for San Francisco, Tennessee, and Washington in the NFL in Tay Martin. He was active for three games with Washington last season, but spent all of his other time in the NFL on practice squads.
During his final season with Oklahoma State in 2021, Martin led the conference with 1,046 yards on 80 catches.
Linebacker Xavier Benson is another former Cowboy on the Columbus squad.
The DC Defenders lost their opener to the St. Louis Battlehawks 16-9. He did not play in the opener but former Oklahoma State three-year starting quarterback Spencer Sanders, the offensive MVP of the Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame, is on the Defenders. It is Sanders second season in the UFL.
Deep snapper Matt Hembrough, one of the best at that duty in Cowboy history is on the St. Louis team.
