Oklahoma State came very close to moving into the top 25 of the AFCA Coaches Poll and they are nearly in the top 16 of the FWAA/National Fouutball Foundation Super 16 Poll.
For the second straight week the coaches have Oklahoma State as the first team in “Others receiving votes”. Oklahoma State had 187 points and that was just 23 shy of Kentuck, who after an overtime win at South Carolina, claimed No. 25 in the AFCA Poll. Out of the Big 12, BYU in No. 8 in the coaches poll, Texas Tech is No. 9, Utah is No. 12, and Houston is No. 19. Besides the Cowboys, Arizona (15), Baylor (3), and Kansas State (1) received at least one vote in the poll.
I vote in the FWAA/NFF Super 16. That poll; which features 56 voters including media members, college football hall-of-fame inductees, and other football standouts from the college game; had Texas No. 1 with 34-of-the-56 first-place votes. Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama, Indiana, BYU, LSU, and Ole Miss; made up the rest of the top 10. Besides BYU at No. 8, Texas Tech No. 11, and Utah No. 12 were in the poll.
Oklahoma State (17 points) would have been No. 21 if that poll was extended. Houston was the only other Big 12 school receiving votes.
