Drew Mestemaker and Wyatt Young Named to Pony Express Award Watch List

STILLWATER – Another week, another watch list addition for Oklahoma State as the duo of quarterback Drew Mestemaker and receiver Wyatt Young has been added to the Pony Express Award watch list on Thursday.

They are one of 26 duos across the FBS, which is a regular season award, which was created by former SMU players Craig James and Eric Dickerson “to celebrate selflessness, collaboration and true team excellence,” as well as “unshakeable team-first mindset.”

Through the first five games of the season, Mestemaker and Young have combined for 462 yards and three touchdowns, putting them in the top 15 in the country in passing and receiving yards per game. They’ve got a chance to add to their stats this coming Saturday on the road against Houston. The Cougars are 118 in the FBS in passing yards allowed with 248 yards per game, while the Pokes are No. 6 in passing yards with 322 ypg.

Winners will be announced in December, but will not be limited to players on the watch list, which means it’s possible we could see Justin Bowick added to this list as well.
