STILLWATER – Just as we thought after a month of official visits, camps, showcases, and wide open recruiting on campuses after 15 months of nothing but zoom conference, facetime calls, social media, and phone calls the month of July is going to be decision time. The dead period ends in time for a few days at the end of July for recruits to get on campus. Then shortly after that both colleges and high schools will get underway with fall camp and practice.

Austin Katwecki #51 is committed to Pokes.

The Cowboys got great news last weekend with the pledge of Frisco (Lebanon Trail), Texas offensive tackle Austin Kawecki. The 6-5, 270-pound Kawecki is one of the top tackle prospects in Texas and is very impressive on video.

Oklahoma State, as we reported the other day, is anxious about adding some more offensive tackles to the 2022 class. Players that visited Oklahoma State in Coppell, Texas standout Alvin Ebosele committed to Baylor and Nikolas Hall visited Kentucky over the weekend before the dead period began and after seemingly coming away from Oklahoma State impressed, he committed to his dad’s alma mater in the Wildcats.

There are two offensive tackle prospects that have recently announced dates where they will commit.

Oklahoma product Jacob Sexton is committing on July 3. Our expectation is that Sexton has already committed silently and we believe he is going to end up announcing to Oklahoma. He has been a lean to the Sooners for a long time.

The biggest prize in Texas, the top-rated offensive tackle is Kelvin Banks Jr. or Humble Summer Creek High School. Banks was origianlly committed to Oklahoma State, but backed off that pledge and opened up his recruiting last fall. He has still stayed in touch with the Cowboys. He made an official visit in June and also visited LSU and Oregon prior to Stillwater and Texas A&M on the final weekend of visits.

Banks tweeted out his pledge date of July 24th earlier Tuesday (June 29).

How long do you want to ignore this user?
So, where do we go from here? Any thoughts on what offensive linemen we pursue and offer?
I was hoping for Sexton, and I feel Banks is A&M bound.
