Oklahoma State Representatives for Big 12 Media Days Announced

Even though it will be a smaller contingent of players than in year’s past, the Big 12 announced the players who will represent each school at Big 12 Media Days Next week. For Oklahoma State, it’ll be quarterback Spencer Sanders and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez.

And of course, head coach Mike Gundy.

When you really break it down, these two players are the face of their respective side of the ball. Spencer is going to be the starting quarterback going into the 2021 season and Malcolm is a returning senior who’s been towards the top of nearly every defensive statistic the past few seasons.

Sanders, who was injured in the first game against Tulsa last season and missed the next two games, finished the 2020 season earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. He finished the season with 2,007 passing yards on a 62.8% passing completion rate, 252.9 yards per game, and 14 passing touchdowns. After sacks, he finished with 269 rushing yards on 101 carries with two touchdowns.

As for Rodriguez, he finished the 2020 campaign as an All-Big 12 second teamer, as well voted team captain by his teammates. He’s one of just six seniors from last year’s team who decided to come back for an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19.

He finished with 82 total tackles this past season, 57 of which were solo stops, including 7.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, five quarterback hurries and three pass breakups.

really wish we had sent another super senior, instead of Sanders (like Sills, perhaps).

Send a future NFL'er, not our future backup QB.... for goodness sakes, the goons didn't send Rattler. WTH?

Good grief! Who cares what the goons do?

nobody... but it is on the list above, for reference.

The point was they actually have a good QB and they're not sending him.

and my point was not about the goons, it was about who we're sending... and I gave my thoughts on that, but you chose to not comment on that, but to focus on the goon reference.

You don't think Sills would be a better person to send? I just feel like we're sending Sanders because his psychic is fragile.

You're being ridiculous. I'll bet Sills wouldn't even want that job of doing interview after interview and having to answer random questions for hours. Find something worthwhile to ***** about for once.

how much you wanna bet? A hideaway pizza?

sills was a Big12 selection, and came back for his sixth year, and started all games, at several positions.

He is the vocal leader in the locker room... yet (according to you), he would not want to talk to the press...

SMH.... jeezus

Oklahoma State offensive lineman Josh Sills will take advantage of his final year of eligibility and return to the Cowboys for the 2021 season, he announced Wednesday via Twitter. The graduate transfer started in all 11 games for Oklahoma State this season, moving between left guard, right tackle and left tackle. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound lineman was named first-team All-Big 12 by the Associated Press and honorable-mention All-Big 12 by the league's coaches in his first season with the Cowboys.

"Excited to announce I'm returning to Stillwater for my final year of eligibility," Sills wrote in a graphic on Twitter. "Can't wait to get back with my brothers. It's time to work and get ready for the 2021 season."

Sills was a key component this past season up front on the Oklahoma State offensive line, which was depleted by injuries and departures. He emerged as a vocal leader in the Cowboys' locker room after a quick transition from West Virginia following the 2019 season. Sills was asked during a media availability after practice earlier this past season if his experience at Oklahoma State met expectations.

"Oh, it has been everything that I hoped for and above and beyond," Sills said. "The relationships and the people that I've met and built here have been better than most and some of the relationships that I built at West Virginia. I can say that the people that I've met and the relationships that I've built here will truly last a lifetime."

Sills was a two-year starter at West Virginia and earned All-Big 12 second-team honors following the 2018 season, starting all 12 games at guard. As a redshirt freshman in 2017, Sills played in all 13 games for the Mountaineers and started in 10 five at right guard and five at left guard. He had a team-leading 13 knockdown blocks and was second with 13 domination blocks. Sills was named preseason first-team All-Big 12 prior to the 2019 season, however he missed all but two games due to injury.

Cal, I hope you're wrong about Spencer. I personally am guessing he has a great year this year. Maybe not an NFL attention year as he's not a Weeden type passer, but a very solid, dangerous run/pass option guy who can make a lot of teams pay regardless of how they play him/our offense. But soon we shall see. In fact, by the end ofthe non-conference games we will likely know.

could be 72..... I hope so. I'm not against Sanders.

Frankly, it's going to be on the OLine (not the QBs) for the first few games until we can get them settled.

We still don't know for certain who is going to be starting at LT, and we've never seen the new center lead the line.

Those hosses should have the size and skills training to get past the first 2 stiffs, but Boise could be the tell-tell game on how the offense may perform on the conference part of the season.
