Blake Jarwin Ready for 2021 Season After Torn ACL Last Year

Blake Jarwin is back out on the field and performing well in Oxnard, California. The former Oklahoma State cowboy back/tight end is 10 months removed from tearing his ACL in Dallas’ 2020 season opener against the Los Angeles Rams.

"It was always kind of the plan to be 100%, body-wise. Now we'll work our way into getting the reps that we need," Jarwin told dallascowboys.com. "Today was a great first step. I've got so much to clean up just from being out for so long, but it feels awesome to be back with the guys.”

Jarwin was restricted to mostly rehab work during the Cowboys’ OTAs back in the spring and early summer, but Thursday was his first full practice since his injury.

"I stayed through it from the beginning of OTAs I was hitting it pretty hard, and all through the summer when the guys were off I was up there grinding it out with Britt [Brown]," Jarwin said of working with the Cowboys' associate athletic trainer and director of rehabilitation. "That was kind of the plan to make sure I was ready for today."

Jarwin saw just one catch in the 2020 season prior to his injury, but the potential breakout star is coming off a solid 2019 season. He played in all 16 games for the Cowboys in 2019, starting in seven, while hauling in 31 receptions for 365 yards and three touchdowns.

With Jarwin’s injury, backup Dalton Schultz saw the bulk of the snaps in 2020 as he recorded 615 yards and four touchdowns. So, training camp is going to be very important for Jarwin to prove he’s back to 100% and ready to take back over the position.
