Collin Oliver Listed on Early 2022 Heisman Trophy Odds

STILLWATER – Following a very successful freshman season in 2021, Collin Oliver is starting to make some rather impressive way-too-early lists for the 2022 season.

BetOnline.ag recently posted its way-too-early Heisman Trophy winner odds, and the freshman edge rusher out of Edmond (OK) Santa Fe was listed. Oliver, who will be a sophomore in 2022, was listed at 66/1.

While the Heisman Trophy has morphed into mainly a quarterback award in recent seasons, being listed as an edge rusher after just one season of college football is quite impressive.

Oliver had a monster freshman season in 2021. He finished with 28 total tackles, 20 of which were solo stops, as well as 15.0 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks, both of which leads the team. Senior All-American linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez was second with 14.0 tackles for loss and senior defensive end Brock Martin was second with 7.0 sacks.

There were three games this season where Oliver recorded multiple sacks, recording two sacks in both games against Baylor and in the win over Oklahoma, with his second sack in the Bedlam game coming in the closing seconds to seal the win for the Pokes.

Following the season, Oliver was tabbed a unanimous choice for the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year, as well as named to the All-Big 12 Second Team. He’s also been named to several Freshman All-America teams.
