To get recruited and play football at the division one level, you have to not only shine on your team but you have to be better than those around you in your district, your region and your state. You have to be the ‘cream of the crop’.

With this 2021 recruiting class, Oklahoma State has made sure that is what they are bringing in. I have been very high on many of these prospects throughout the last two seasons. Although recruiting can be tough at times, at others, all you have to do is open your eyes and watch to know the level of talent you are getting. And that is what happened with this recruiting class.

All of the signess have completed their high school careers and many of the districts and states are releasing awards, although some still need to be given out.

Nearly every single 2021 Oklahoma State signee has earned a district MVP or 1st Team honor.

Blaine and Bryson Green - Wide Receivers

Named District MVP’s

- 1st Team All District WR’s

Playing in one of the toughest divisions of high school football, no matter where you look in the country, Texas 6A is some of the best. The Green twins routineley emabarrased defenses, often playing division one commits. They combined for 98 catches, 1,662 yards, and 24 touchdowns.

John Paul Richardson - Wide Receiver

-District MVP

-Unanimous 1st Team All-District WR

-1st Team All-District Returner

Richardson is one of the most underrated prospects in this class and is shaped to be the 2.0 version of Dillon Stoner. In fact, many on staff believe he is more developed at this point than Stoner was. He finished this season with 35 catches for 660 yards and 10 touchdowns. One of his final catches of the season got him a spot on the ESPN “You Got Mossed Segment”.

Jaden Bray - Wide Receiver

- Wide Receiver of the Year

- 1st Team All District WR

Bray wraps up the wide receiver haul for the Cowboys in the recruiting cycle. He is the most raw of the group but his size and athleticism will bring him places. At 6’3 and around 190 pounds, he is a perfect size to be utilized under Kasey Dunn. He finished this season with 26 catches for 420 yards and 3 touchdowns. Unfortunately, he was the victim of poor quarerback play this season. Well, to be honest, he didnt have a QB at all. His talents will much more valuable in Stillwater.

Nick Martin - Linebacker

- District Co-MVP

There are several labels that are worthy of being attached to Nick Martin. My personal favorite though... a freak. This guy can do it all. In his district, they had an offensive MVP and a defensive MVP. Martin was so good though that they named him overall MVP, because he excelled at both running back and linebacker. This season on offense, he racked up 800 yards, 15 TD’s with 7 yards per carry. On defense, he totaled 97 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 1 deflected pass, and 9 QB hurries.

Aden Kelley - Defensive Line

- All American

- District MVP

Aden Kelley is arguably the best prospect in this class, as would be proven by the All-American selection. In his senior season, he totaled 98 tackles, which as a intrerior lineman is uterrly unbelievable.

Collin Oliver - EDGE Rusher

-District Defensive MVP

-1st Team

-Tulsa World Defensive Player of The Year

Collin is one of the more raw players in this class but he has some extreme upside to his game. He finished his senior season with 66 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 12 QB hurries.

Raymond Gay - Cornerback

- District Offensive MVP

You will probably look at the “offensive” portion of that award and question it but it is correct. Raymond has been an elite offensive playmaker through highschool. In fact he did not even play defense until this season and even then it was in a part time role at cornerback. He finished this season with 71 receptions for 1,212 Yards and 16 TD’s.

Donovan Stephens - Linebacker

- District Outside Linebacker of the Year

- All State 2nd Team DB

Donovan Stephens might be the most versatile defensive player in this class. He has shown the ability to play outside linebacker, edge rusher, and defensive back. Some of the voters through one publication even named him All State 2nd Team defensive back. Over the past season, he has drastically improved and developed his body. He has a chance to be an early playmaker.

Logan Nobles

- All State 1st Team OL

Nobles is one of the players in this class that has somewhat flown under the radar in the recruiting world. 6’6 260 pounds means he will have to put on a little bit of weight but he shows promise for the future under Charlie Dickey.

Lyrik Rawls

- 1st Team All District Safety

Lyrik is probably the only defensive back in this class that has a set position for the future. He is 100% a safety and it is no surprise that he was among the best in his district.

Silas Barr- Offensive Lineman

- Co-Offensive lineman of the Year

Silas is a tad undersized right now in the weight department like Nobles but under Rob Glass and Charlie Dickey, they will get him right. At 6’5, he has a chance to be a major sleeper in this class.

Kale Smith - Defensive Back

- 1st Team All District

- 2nd Team All State Defense

Smith is another guy who flew under the radar for the most part but the Oklahoma State staff is very excited about his future. He will probably end up as a cornerback, which is what he played primarily at Midwest City but he will be a fun developmental player for Coach Tim Duffie.

Jaden Nixon has not yet received his honors but he is a lock for 1st Team All District Running Back and has a very good chance at district MVP. I am still looking for info in De’Kelvion Beamon. The JUCO guys, Austin Jarrard, Nathan Latu, and Caleb Etienne did not have seasons due to COVID-19 and Ty Williams missed all but one game with an injury.

Some recruiting sites may show or tell you that this class is not one of the best that Mike Gundy ns staff have brought in but I am here to tell you, if these guys stay healthy and on track, this will be one of the best classes Oklahoma State has ever brought in.

This class is going to be fun to watch develop and play. A bunch of really good athletes.

That last line is so accurate. This class has the potential to be the best we've ever seen. I can't wait to see how they develop. Just getting 5-7 good contributors in a class is good. Possibly getting 15 plus like this class has can be historic and put you on the next level.
