STILLWATER – Two pitchers from this past season at Oklahoma State were picked up on the final day of the MLB First-Year Players Draft. Bryce Osmond was selected with the 448th pick in the 15th round of the draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Kale Davis was then selected in the next round. The two players picked on day three made it nine total for Oklahoma State and that tied the Cowboys for third among all schools in number of players selected.

Well worded Robert.

What's going on with our pitching staff development and recruiting. Had a bunch of disappointments this year with guys who had shown great promise but couldn't consistently produce.

I thought that I read 7 of our 9 draftees were right hand pitchers.... apparently MLB does not agree with your assessment

Guess I was just remembering the 6 run innings, the 4 pitch walks, the hit batters in critical situations and maybe they are good talents who have bright futures ahead and we just mis used or mis managed them.

Yeah, but here's what's really going on.

We have pitching talent on the roster (see all the draft picks) but can't seem to get anything out of that talent. MLB drafts on potential, not results.

So, you're saying our pitching staff performed up to their potential. Gotcha.

no, I'm saying you don't have any freaking idea what you're talking about

you're always wrong.

It's probably not that hard to research, but I leave that to others.

Research? What would you research? How do you research talent vs results?

I would say talent is best measured by someone prepared to pay a player for his talent. Ie, the draft.

How do you measure results? Hmmm. The last 6 weeks of the season the pitching staff surrendered 191 runs in their last 27 games. That's more than 7 runs per game. That's the reason we fell to 4th in the league. That's the reason we were knocked out of the B12 tourny. That's the reason we lost the regional.

I have data and professional talent evaluators to support my opinion. You? Nothing. Or at least nothing you care to share.

that is just about the dumbest post that I have ever read.

You have no idea what you are freaking talking about, two of our guys were not even expected to be pitchers and were brought in for relief, and ended up being good enough to get significant innings.... they clearly played ABOVE EXPECTATIONS. As did others.

We had some injuries, is that now playing below expectations, cause they can't play and we have to use the next man up? No, of course not.

you have no freaking idea what you're talking about....

our pitching was plenty good enough to get us in the top of the conference, and to host a freaking regional.

you simply do not know what you are talking about.
