Dominic Richardson Doesn't Hold a TCU Grudge Anymore, But Ready to Play Hard

STILLWATER – Saturday’s game against TCU is one you would think Oklahoma State running back Dominic Richardson would have circled on his calendar.

Once committed to TCU, Richardson was electric in last year’s 63-17 blowout of the Horned Frogs. He finished the game with 12 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns, with an average of 11.2 yards per carry, with runs of 18 yards, 20 yards, 27 yards and 28 yards.

He’s ready to go on Saturday as the Pokes travel to Fort Worth for their second Big 12 road game of the season, however, it seems as if he got his personal animosity with the Horned Frogs in last year’s game.

“It does a little bit, I’ve let it go,” Dominic Richardson said of his beef with TCU. “I ain’t gonna hold a grudge anymore, but I’m still going to play hard. Every time I heard TCU or see the color purple, I’m gonna go play hard, so I’m ready.”

Richardson’s had a solid start to the 2022 season with 86 carries for 355 yards and four touchdowns, while hauling in 14 receptions for 133 yards. While he’s yet to have that big-time breakout game on Big 12 play, Richardson’s been lowering his shoulders and running quite hard.

Some of the hits he’s either taken, or punishment he’s dished out in the first five games has caused people to kind of hold their breath. While’s there’s still more than half the season left, Richardson says he’s still feeling good.

“Pretty good; I thought I’d be more sore than I am right now, but I feel pretty fresh,” Richardson said of his body. “Little sore in the neck, but that’s normal for me and running backs, so I’m feeling great.”

Dom’s gonna get his chance this weekend to lay some more punishing hits on defenders and while the grudge is no longer there, I’m sure he’ll be ready to have a similar to performance as last year.

I hope our running game is primed up. I'm afraid the Cowboys can't win if it's not, especially since I think it's possible Spencer will be limited in this one due to the last game taking such a physical toll on him (and Johnson, Wilson, Black, etc. for that matter).. Someone remarked on some thread/site that it all doesn't matter as "we can't seemingly win AT TCU." I thought I'd pull a Cal and look up the facts to prove that wrong. But turns out.....we've won 3 out of the last 10 down there. There were also a couple ties as I recall, but at best, those don't improve the picture much. Having said that, I'm hopeful we're just better than them and Tech was as well.

LOL - Cali says, facts matter (in context).

"The last 10 times down there spans 20 freaking years!! good gosh. That's even pre-Gundy. Can't we at least limit the stats to say the last 15-16 years (after Gundy started developing solid teams? - that's really all that would be relevant to this conversation)

LOL - NEWS FLASH - Patterson is not at TCU any longer. Patterson=good

I think we all agree that conference road wins are hard to come by, so a difficult road result in Ft Worth should not really be surprising. OSU has had some modest seasons during that stretch, and some really good seasons, which of the good or bad seasons were @TCU? Is this a good season or a bad season?

TCU has done what they've needed to for their record and their season so far, but they haven't really played anybody that makes you say "WOW". Their OOC games were not very challenging games (for them or for anybody), they beat OU after knocking Gabriel out, and the Goons have zero defense, and they beat a decent KU teams after knocking their QB out.

The only thing that has me concerned is that TCU seems to be responsible for knocking out other team's QBs.

I'm not sure how we can play aggressive and try to protect Sanders all at the same time. I think Sanders needs to focus on being a game manager, and not the hero. We should have enough skill and brawn around SS to grind this game out.... and IMO, it would not matter if it were in the Stockyards or in Stilly.

We gained nearly 170 yards on the ground against one of the top three defensive fronts (Baylor) in the Big XII if not the Country! TCU runs a similar 3 - 3 - 5 stack that Iowa State runs but isn't as good as the Baylor or Iowa State front seven so they are inviting you to run the ball! The key of course is to follow through and make them pay the price so that they have to commit a linebacker or safety or both to the run and open things up on the back end through the air! Kansas actually did a good job of that this past weekend, with a back up QB at that but suffered two very costly turnovers that cost them the game. We can't afford turnovers as well!

I think if we came out in a 4-4-5 defensive formation that we'd have a better chance of beating them
