Over/Under: Five Thoughts on Oklahoma State Game Against Kansas

November 4, 2022

STILLWATER – We’ve started a new game-week series here at Pokes Report called Over/Under. It’ll be five topics with an over/under associated to them. You’ll then drop your predictions in the comments below on how you think they’ll turn out.

Oklahoma State is looking to bounce back from a rough loss to Kansas State this past week on the road, 48-0, as the Pokes are on the road in Lawrence against the Kansas Jayhawks. The last time out between these two teams, the Cowboys beat the Jayhawks 55-3 in Stillwater.

Be sure and drop you Over/Under predictions below in the comment section.

The first Over/Under will be OSU total yardage: Over/Under 300 yards

Oklahoma State had a bad day at the office last week against K-State as they were held to just 217 yards of total offense, down considerably from the more than 400 yards they’ve averaged per game this season. As for the Jayhawks, they’repush giving up 439.1 yards of total offense per game. I’ve set this Over/Under conservatively, so can the Cowboys clear the 300 yard mark?

Scoring: Over/Under 30 points

I understand the Cowboys didn’t score last week against Kansas State, but we have to just mark that game as an anomoly. The Cowboys are 12th in the nation averaging 39.1 points per game, while the Jayhawks are allowing 30.6 points per game. Aside from last week, the Cowboys have cleared 30 points in every game. So, can they do so against Kansas?

OSU defense: Over/Under one sack

The Jayhawks have one of the best offensive lines when it comes to protecting the quarterback as they’ve allowed just five sacks on the season in eight games, good for third in the FBS. Can the Cowboys create enough pressure to record at least one sack?

OSU defense: Over/Under one turnover

This is a category we haven’t used in a few weeks, so we might as well bring it back for this game. The Cowboys have created just eight turnovers on the season, seven interceptions and one fumble recovery. They didn’t have any last week against K-State, but they did record three interceptions against Texas. Can they record at least one turnover against KU?

OSU special teams: Over/Under 20 yard average allowed on kick return

This Over/Under will be for the Cowboys’ kickoff unit. The Jayhawks are averaging 21.4 yards per kick return this season. The Cowboys have done a decent job this year in limiting returns, so can they hold the Jayhawks to under their average on Saturday?
