Oklahoma State Set for Bahamas Tilt Against UCF
Oklahoma State is back out on the road, this time out of the country, as the Pokes are set to face off against UCF in the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championships. Tipoff against the Knights is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 18, and will be on the CBS Sports Network.
Chris Sylvester, Kyle Macy and Sam Hyman will be on the TV call, while Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb will be on the radio call.
This will be a fun match-up for the Pokes as it gives us an early look into what we’ll see when UCF joins the Big 12 next season.
The Knights enter the tournament with the same record as the Pokes, 2-1, as they dropped their season opener to UNC Asheville, 98-95, in double-overtime. They turned around and won the next two, 68-54 over Florida State and 70-37 over Western Illinois.
They’re averaging 77.7 points a game to start the season, while holding opponents to an average of 63 points. As for the Cowboys, they’re averaging 76 points a game, while also holding opponents to an average of 63 points.
Freshman 6-9 forward Taylor Hendricks leads the way in scoring for the Knights, averaging an impressive 14.7 points a game on 51% shooting from the field. Hendricks also leads in rebounds per game with 6.7, 4.0 of which are coming on the defensive end, as well as 2.0 blocks per game. Right behind him on the stat sheet is senior guard C.J. Kelly who’s averaging 14.0 points a game on 41% shooting.
The Cowboys are fresh off a 91-62 win over Oakland this past weekend, in which Avery Anderson III led the way for the Pokes with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
In all, the Cowboys had four scores in double figures, Anderson III with 18, John-Michael Wright with 16, Caleb Asberry with 13 and Moussa Cisse with 11. Cisse recorded his second double-double of the season as he also finished with 10 rebounds.
