Oklahoma State Corner Jabbar Muhammad Enters Transfer Portal
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State has lost another starter to the transfer portal. Pokes Report has confirmed a report by On3’s Matt Zenitz that Jabbar Muhammad has officially entered his name into the transfer portal.
This comes after a day, Wednesday, where Muhammad entered and withdrew his name from the portal a few times. He is, however, back in the portal as of Thursday afternoon.
This is a big loss for the Cowboys as he was a major contributor in all 12 games in 2022. On the season, Muhammad recorded 48 total tackles, 32 of which were solo stops, 0.5 tackles for loss, one interception, one forced fumble and an impressive nine pass break ups, a number which lead the team.
Muhammad, a 5-10 corner originally out of DeSoto (TX) HS, has played three seasons for the Pokes: five games in 2020 and all 14 games in 2021. He recorded one tackle in 2020 and finished the 2021 season with 23 tackles, including a season-high of eight tackles and two pass break ups in the Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame.
The Cowboy coaching staff has brought in one transfer defensive back so far, Jones College transfer Lardarius Webb Jr. They also have a large number of younger players who earned some playing time and experience this past season, but it’s certainly possible with Muhammad entering the portal the coaches start to look to add some more transfer experience to the mix before signing day.
Muhammad marks the 12th player to enter the portal since the end of the regular season, joining fellow defenders Mason Cobb (LB), Kanion Williams (S/ST), Thomas Harper (DB), Demarco Jones (DB/ST), Trace Ford (DE) and Na’Drian Dizadare, as well as Spencer Sanders (QB), Braylin Presley (WR), Eli Russ (OL), Langston Anderson (WR) and Dominic Richardson (RB).
