Post Spring Position Analysis: Defensive Line

STILLWATER – The first preseason football magazine arrived today. May 24 and the earliest I can ever remember holding one of these babies in my hands. I love the preseason magazines and usually end up with a half-dozen or more and my wife always asks, “why do you need those?” I tell her it’s the excitement and I read about other schools and other conferences. Hey, it’s all about stimulating the economy and supporting other journalistic endeavors.

I believe that is the most size and experience and depth that I have seen on a Poke DLine entering a season.

I may be going out on a limb a little bit, the this second unit on the DL would still be one of the better units Gundy has had, and the third unit isn't that far behind either

This may be the best the O-State DL has ever looked, and I'm going back to the mid 80's. I'm excited to see the D play.

I can recall Gundy teams that would be fortunate to have and keep this 3rd and 4th string as the top/only defensive line group. There were years our DT's were underweight and basically over developed DE's.

Robert, is it meaningful at all that Duckworth is a RS walkon. Would every walkon that sticks it out be redshirted or does that signify some degree of resource usage and commitment by the coaching staff to the player (that isn't just a given to everyone that walks on)?
