Report: Four-Star Combo Guard Sets Official Visit to Stillwater

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State is set to host its second official visitor in the month of June. According to a report by 247Sports’ Eric Bossi, four-star combo guard, Anthony Black, has scheduled official visits to three schools, Oklahoma State, Iowa State and Texas.

He joins five-star forward Mark Mitchell as the other prospect who’s scheduled an official to Stillwater.

Black is a 6-7, 185-pound combo guard out of Coppell (TX) High School and is the No. 59 ranked prospect in the 2022 class. He’s also the No. 10 combo guard and the No. 5 overall prospect out of Texas. He’s also listed as a three-star receiver on the football side of things for Coppell.

Black had a solid 2020-21 season as he averaged 16.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2 steals a game as a junior, earning All-Area Second Team by the Dallas Morning News, as well as the District 6-6A MVP.

“I think it is the way that I play hard on both ends of the floor," Black told 247Sports. "Some known players, they don’t play with a chip on their shoulder because they are already on top. Personally, I just feel like I want to go out there and prove myself every game, so I just play hard and get my teammates involved. Me playing hard on both ends is what really sticks out to people.”

There’s no question as to Mike Boynton’s attention to solid two-way guards. Both Avery Anderson III and Rondel Walker are solid defenders, as is Isaac Likekele. Also, with what Cade Cunningham was able to do, you can see the desire to go after big and athletic guards, a quality Black mentioned in his interview with Bossi.

“They had a guard similar to me there, Cade Cunningham, and he’s probably going to be drafted No. 1,” Black told 247Sports. “Just seeing that they know what to do with a guard that’s my size and kind of plays a little similar to me is good. I can see myself fitting in there.”

Oklahoma State is also in the mix to land five-star shooting guard out of Lewisville, TX, Keyonte George, who put the Pokes in his top-five last week. With how things are shaping up early in terms of recruiting for Boynton and Co., I think the 2022 class could be a fun one to watch take shape.

Need to support this team and coach with fans in the seat and contract improvements as they are earned. OSU basketball has finally turned upwards again!

Definitely contending for some high-caliber prospects each season. Seems to be more and more each year.

shhh.... everybody whisper while the bread rises.....

and the smell of bread baking is one of the best aromas....

I'll be impressed if we actually win something... before that, we're just judging based on the sniff test.
